ABOUT ME
Hey, I’m Hila—a singer, songwriter, and voice/songwriting teacher who’s been immersed in
music for almost two decades. My journey started at 13, messing around on guitar and
making low-quality recordings through my webcam mic.
I fell in love with music fast, taking voice and guitar lessons, writing my own songs, and eventually studying jazz in a conservatory before exploring everything from rock to folk to avant-pop. These days, I release music under the name Ella Mar and perform wherever the music takes me.

That spark of discovery, that joy, is everything.
I gave my first voice lesson over a decade ago, but even before that, I was the friend everyone came to for singing help. Teaching has always felt natural to me, and over the years, it became just as much a passion as performing. What excites me most is getting to witness that moment when someone surprises themselves—when they hear something in their voice they didn’t know was there.
That spark of discovery, that joy, is everything.
I shape my lessons around each person—their creativity, their voice, their goals. Whether you’re a total beginner just singing for fun, a seasoned vocalist refining
your technique, or a songwriter finding your sound, I’d love to help.
I teach in my studio in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, and online via Zoom to students anywhere in the world. When I’m not making music or teaching, you’ll probably
find me at a friend’s show, making collages, or snacking in my tiny New York kitchen.
Let’s make some noise!
